March was a busy month. We had our fifth in-person Leducq Network meeting in New Haven (US), attended the ISMRM Neurofluids Workshop (also in New Haven) and as cherry on the cake visited beautiful Oxford for the Glymphatics and Brain Clearance symposium. Also, our Beth represented the lab at AD/PD in Copenhagen and gave a fabulous talk on her work.

We attended the annual Alzheimer's Research UK meeting in Manchester and visited the University of Manchester to participate in an engaging and collaborative workshop on inflammation and CAA.We are looking for an enthusiastic research assistant to join our lab to contribute to our pre-clinical studies. Alex and Hilde have finally arrived in Edinburgh!We are looking for a motivated PhD student to join our lab to study the role of the vascular smooth muscle cells in early vascular dysfunction in CAA. See for more details on the fully funded project and how to apply here. Deadline is January 9.

We have had a very busy couple of months. We represented our lab at the official BHF-UK DRI - Centre for Vascular Dementia Researchlaunch event in London, we attended the fourth in-person meeting of our Leducq Foundation Transatlantic Network of Excellence on Brain Clearance in beautiful Leiden, we presented work from our lab at the Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research in Madrid, and we met many of our new colleagues from the UK DRI at the annual Connectome meeting in Manchester.

Hilde's paper on blood-brain barrier leakage in patients with CAA is out! She will be joining us in Edinburgh in January to continue her work on the role of the blood-brain barrier and neuroinflammation in CAA, funded by an early career grant from Alzheimer Nederland.

Our new two-photon microscope was installed. And we presented our work at Vascog in Southampton and the blood-brain barrier meeting in Barcelona. The BHF-UK DRI - Centre for Vascular Dementia Research was well represented at both meetings.

Part of our lab at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston (US) is relocating to the UK to plant a new lab focused on CAA at the University of Edinburgh. As of September 1, the doors of the new Translational CAA Research Lab within the BHF-UK DRI - Centre for Vascular Dementia Research have officially opened! Stay tuned for further updates as we are getting up-and-running.
